Methyl Iodide Used in PharmaceuticalsMethyl Iodide Used in Pharmaceuticals

Iodomethane (Methyl iodide) is a colorless liquid. It can be prepared by reacting dimethyl sulfate with concentrated KI. In terms of chemical structure, it is related to methane by replacement of one hydrogen atom by an atom of iodine. It is naturally emitted by riceplantations in small amounts. It is also produced in vast quantities estimated to be greater than 214,000 tons annually by algae and kelp in the world's temperate oceans, and in lesser amounts on land by terrestrial fungi and bacteria.

Iodomethane, more commonly called methyl iodide (MeI) is a volatile organic compound used in many chemical reactions. It is an excellent methylating agent that is used in pharmaceutical synthesis as well as many organic syntheses. It is a vital catalyst for acetic acid manufacture and is an EPA registered soil fumigant. Approved pesticides, used to control insect, plant parasitic nematodes, soil borne pathogenes and weed seeds etc.

Application:

It is used in organic synthesis as a source of methyl groups.

Methyl iodide had been approved for use as a pesticide by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 2007 as a pre-plant biocide used to control insects, plant parasitic nematodes, soil-borne pathogens, and seeds.

Nanjing Chemical Material Corporation. (NCMC), is a professional chemical distributor company, we provide DMC catalyst, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, methyl Iodide, allyl glycidyl ether, glycolic acid and etc. Want to know more? Please contact us.

Pesticides

Pesticide is any substance or mixture of substances intended for Preventing, destroying, repelling or mitigating any pest. Use as a plant regulator, defoliant, or desiccant. Use as a nitrogen stabilizer   Pesticide, any toxic substance used to kill animals or plants that cause economic damage to crop or ornamental plants or are hazardous to the health of domestic animals or humans. All pesticides interfere with normal metabolic processes in the pest organism and often are classified according to the type of organism they are intended to control.  (See herbicide; insecticide; fungicide; fumigant.)   P esticide A ctive I ngredients L ist   Allyl Alcohol Chemical Formula: C3H6O CAS No.: 107-18-6 Dangerous Grade: 6.1 Methyl Iodide Chemical Formula: CH3I CAS No.: 74-88-4 Dangerous Grade: 6.1 Isoprenol Chemical Formula: C5H10O CAS No.: 763-32-6 Dangerous Grade: 3 Benzalkonium Chloride Product Name: Benzalkonium chloride Chemical Formula: C17H30ClN   Ethyl Iodid...

Difference Between Sodium Laureth Sulfate And Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

Sodium laureth ether sulfate  (SLS) and sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) are surfactants that play a role in foaming products. It is widely believed that the foam produced by a product is its performance. The composition of SLS and SLES reduces the surface tension of water. They can also be used as dispersants to properly mix spices and body spray. SLS and SLES can also be used in a variety of personal care products such as soap, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and other foaming products. SLS and SLES are also added to moisturizing lotions and sunscreens because of these properties. The difference between SLS and SLES is in the manufacturing process. SLS undergo a process called ethoxylation. And then you get SLES. Why do we have this ethoxylation process? Because SLS has some mild irritation on the skin, such as dry. The manufactured SLES are more gentle and do not irritate the skin. Many manufacturers do not use SLS because it is irritating. SLES should be softer o...
