Production and Function of Monoammonium Glycyrrhizinate

Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate in China is a chemical substance. This product is mainly used for the treatment of chronic persistent hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis, liver poisoning, and early liver cirrhosis.

Production method

It is obtained by using crude glycyrrhizic acid (content about 50%, weight method) as raw material and acidic ethanol as extractant. 50g crude glycyrrhizic acid was added to 170ml of 95% ethanol acidified with hydrochloric acid (Ph value 3.5 ~ 4.0), and stirred and extracted at 40 ~ 50 ℃ for 4h. After filtration, the filter residue was extracted with 100 ml of ethanol under the same conditions for 3 hours. The extracts were combined, and ammonia water or ammonia gas was added dropwise with stirring to make the Ph of the solution 7.2 to 7.5, and allowed to stand at room temperature for 0.5 h to completely precipitate.

The precipitate is triammonium glycyrrhizinate, which is dispersed into a paste with an appropriate amount of glacial acetic acid. If necessary, heat it slightly, let it stand for 1h and then filter to convert it into monoammonium salt. After crystal separation, wash with a small amount of glacial acetic acid 1 to 2 times to obtain a pale yellow crude product. Activated carbon was decolorized and recrystallized with 75% ethanol to obtain 15.5 g of white crystals with a yield of 61% and a purity of ≥98%.

The use of monoammonium glycyrrhizinate: it is used in the pharmaceutical industry for cough and phlegm treatment, liver disease treatment, etc.

Difference Between Sodium Laureth Sulfate And Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

Sodium laureth ether sulfate  (SLS) and sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) are surfactants that play a role in foaming products. It is widely believed that the foam produced by a product is its performance. The composition of SLS and SLES reduces the surface tension of water. They can also be used as dispersants to properly mix spices and body spray. SLS and SLES can also be used in a variety of personal care products such as soap, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and other foaming products. SLS and SLES are also added to moisturizing lotions and sunscreens because of these properties. The difference between SLS and SLES is in the manufacturing process. SLS undergo a process called ethoxylation. And then you get SLES. Why do we have this ethoxylation process? Because SLS has some mild irritation on the skin, such as dry. The manufactured SLES are more gentle and do not irritate the skin. Many manufacturers do not use SLS because it is irritating. SLES should be softer o...
